The application of UHMWPE

The molecular chain length of UHMWPE is 10 ~ 20 times that of hdpe. The main advantages of longer molecular chains (higher molecular weight) give UHMWPE are toughness, wear resistance and resistance to stress cracking. Because it is a kind of polyethylene, UHMWPE also has lubricity, chemical resistance and general purpose HDPE excellent electrical properties.

Long molecular chains make materials difficult to process in common moulding and extrusion equipment. When heated above the melting point, UHMWPE becomes transparent but does not flow.Chemical and performance UHMWPE is produced by ziegler polymerization. The process requires a particularly high degree of purity, ethylene monomer impurity control in a few parts per million. The product is a white powder with a particle size similar to that of table salt.

UHMWPE is used for low speed bearing housing. Low friction coefficient is further reduced by adding siloxane, aluminum disulfide, graphite and special paraffin wax. In the food processing industry, UHMWPE self-lubricity, easy purification, low flavor gas/flavor transmission and boiling water resistance are used. Has met FDA and USDA requirements for use in food, water, and pharmaceutical industries. Some of the USES of UHMWPE are based on its noise absorption and shock absorption. If UHMWPE is needed, dye can be used for coloring, while pigments are slightly inferior.

PTFE/Polymer/UHMWPE Tube Ram Extruder, PTFE/Polymer/UHMWPE Rad Ram Extruder, Gasket machine, Plastic Pipe machine, etc. These machines can be used to produce a variety of fields need some ptfe, polymer, ultra high molecular weight and other products.

UHMWPE may be used in a new generation of self-unloading ore carriers, railway wagons and large trucks due to its smooth, non-viscous and abrasion resistance. These properties make it also useful for agriculture and earth-moving machinery, with UHMWPE materials to protect steel. The combination of chemical resistance and surface smoothness has many applications. For food processing industry, UHMWPE is used as the surface material of meat cutting board. UHMWPE is used as contact surface and roller for processing food and medicine conveyors. It has the properties of self-lubricating, resistance to boiling water and resistance to chemical cleaner.

PTFE Carbon Rod

PTFE Carbon Filled has good chemical resistance to corrosive environments, has better creep and wear resistance compared to standard PTFE materials. These properties are improved with the addition of a carbon filler. This filler improves dimensional stability, raises the heat deflection temperature, improves creep resistance and the dynamic bearing performance. PTFE Carbon-Filled exhibits good initial wear and rubbing/sliding contact characteristics in both dry and wet/water applications. It is frequently used in piston rings to reduce cylinder wall wear by entrapping abrasive foreign particles in their relatively soft surfaces.
PTFE Carbon Rod
Carbon Filled PTFE was developed to provide a PTFE based material with improved mechanical strength.
PTFE on its own has excellent frictional properties, elasticity and wear resistance but relatively poor mechanical strength and tends to fail in high PV applications.
Carbon in itself is a brittle material with poor wear properties and mechanical strength. However with the two combined in Carbon Filled PTFE formulations, the resultant material has excellent mechanical and wear properties, retains the excellent frictional properties and is an excellent choice for seals and rings in dynamic and high pressure applications.
Carbon filled PTFE also provides good thermal conductivity, low permeability and is also electrically conductive making it a good choice for anti-static applications.
The most common carbon filled PTFE composition is 75% Virgin PTFE with 25% Carbon powder by weight.
When a filler ratio or type is unspecified, it is fair to assume this is the material. However it doesn’t tell the whole story. The type and percentage of carbon added to PTFE is a variable and is critical to material performance.
It can be as little as 0.2% and as much as 40%. Different percentages of carbon will

Molded PTFE Rod

PTFE Rod is manufactured in two distinct ways, extruded PTFE Rod is the most popular and is relevant to smaller sizes, Moulded PTFE Rod is relevant to the diameters over 100mm in size, smaller sizes are also available in extruded form.

Molded PTFE rod is generally used as machining stock for all kinds of chemical, electrical and mechanical components where the outstanding performance characteristics of PTFE are required. Various fillers are available to modify the properties of PTFE to meet application requirements.

Fluoro-Plastics compression molds rods and cylinders for machining in a wide range of sizes. The most common sizes are listed in the table below, but many other combinations of OD and ID are available.  Molded rods are preferred for machining because compression molding yields greater material homogeneity for the finished part.

All rods can be etched for bonding, and can be mounted on a plywood disk for less waste in machining.

All rods can be made with filled (reinforced) PTFE to enhance the performance parameters of PTFE. Materials available for reinforcement are Glass Fiber, Carbon, Graphite, Bronze, Molybdenum Disulfide, and Stainless Steel.

PTFE Virgin Rod

PTFE Virgin Rod Features:Usage temperature range is very broad (Celsius from - 200 degrees to +260 degrees); Anti-majority chemical substance's corrosiveness, except some fluorides and alkalinity moltenmetal;Excellent mechanical properties, aging resistance;Excellent flame resistance(Conforms to ASTM-D635 and D470 test step),in the air to be regulated as a flame retardant material;Very low water absorption......
PTFE Virgin Rod
One key importantadvantage of PTFE Rod is its operating temperature range,it can easily outperform other engineering plastics by being able to perform continuously at-250°C, right up to an amazing 250°C. Another important advantage of PTFE Rod is its outstanding co-efficient of friction, PTFE is in the record books ashaving one of the lowest friction values known to man. PTFE also has excellentacid and chemical resistance. Another feature of PTFE is its ability to set byor due to compression.
PTFE has excellent electrical resistance. PTFE is alsowater repellent and is often used in the manufacture of modern high performing, water repellent and breathable clothing.
PTFE is excellentfor low friction bearings, bushes, rollers and pulleys. PTFE is also almostexclusively used in cryogenic components due to its ultra low operating temperatures.PTFE Rod is regularly used for seals. PTFE Rod has become a very important engineering plastic used within the aerospace industry and aeronautics.
PTFE isoften used within the food industry companies. Another useful application overthe years has been in the use of product or component handles due to its resistance to heat and heat transfer. When an application for electrical resistance becomes too high for other materials, PTFE Rod can fill a very important gap.
Because PTFE hassuch a low co-efficient of friction it offers a material that when used willreduce load and drag in bearings to improve efficiency and reduce frictional losses and PTFE will outlast other materials. Because PTFE Rod will set due to compression, PTFE seals will conform to mating components resulting inexcellent sealing capacity. PTFE is reasonably easy to machine which helps withreduced machining costs and increased capacity and efficiency. PTFE isresistant to most acids allowing this material to be used in aggressive environments to where such materials as Polypropylene are unsatisfactory.

Poly-Tetra-Fluoro-Ethylene is a fluorocarbon-based polymer and is commonly abbreviated PTFE. The Teflon® brand of PTFE is manufactured only by DuPont.

Several other manufacturers make their own brands of PTFE which can often be used as substitute materials. This fluoroplastic family offers high chemical resistance, low and high temperature capability, resistance to weathering, low friction, electrical and thermal insulation, and "slipperiness".

(Teflon® PTFE and Teflon® FEP & PFA Specifications) PTFE's mechanical properties are low compared to other plastics, but its properties remain at a useful level over a wide temperature range of -100°F to +400°F (-73°C to 204°C). Mechanical properties are often enhanced by adding fillers (see paragraph below). It has excellent thermal and electrical insulation properties and a low coefficient of friction.

PTFE is very dense and cannot be melt processed -- it must be compressed and centered to form useful shapes.

PTFE Rod Virgin Natural Round Bar Teflon White

What is PTFE:PTFE is made up of Fluorine and Carbon atoms. The Fluorine atoms are just the right size to form a helical shield around the carbon atoms. This stops any chemical attack on the carbon atoms because nothing can get close enough. Fluorine is an extremely reactive element and by this virtue the chemical bond between it and carbon is one of the strongest bonds known in organic chemistry. This is why only under extreme conditions can PTFE be attacked. The forces between polymer chains are extremely small which gives PTFE its excellent low coefficient of friction

Properties:Superior chemical resistance;Low coefficient of friction;Near zero stick/slip force;Wide temperature range;Low moisture absorption;High electrical resistance;Temperature range -260 to 260 deg c.
